The dissertation is devoted to research traditionality as factor of
mental determination of behaviour of the person, of the form and way of
his/her existence. The characteristic of tradition and traditionality as

The essence of traditionality as guideline in life, influencing
behaviour of the person through traditional everyday culture as a system
of stable, repeated in generations artificial facts of culture
identifying the ethnic nature of personality is established. The
observance of and appurtenance of a person to a traditional way of
existence determines basis of original life ideology, consisting not
only in compilation, but also in constant updating of informational
and psychological environment of the person.

The paper shows the structure traditionality in the balance of sensual
and rational, which displays itself in a mental nature of imagination as
the precondition of making visual imaginative component of consciousness
more objective.. Sensual information is treated as » before-conscious
reflection «, which with the rise of consciousness is preserved in
subconsciousness and displays itself in the ways of self-regulation of
behaviour, and also as beliefs as psychological guideline. The paper
dwells on the peculiar features of everyday consciousness as of a
knowledge in the context of traditionality which is a result of an
cognition on empirical level; in itself, it is, in fact ,a kind of
primary knowledge — an object of authentic faith (coexisting with
scientific knowledge, they will form a sort of specific condition of
mind » a bi-faithness” so to say).

The research involves into analysis empirical material that proves the
correlational dependence between archetypal systems (specimens of
collective unconscious) and modern artifacts of culture as
traditionalized by stereotypes of behaviour which are carrying out
normative and typifying functions in mental activity of the person. As
one of the sources of traditionality cosmogonic sensual forms of ideas
made objective in «intermediaries» — that is some objects subjectively
treated as sacred objects, zoo— and anthropomorphic images. They, in
turn, make the folklore concept of origin of the world as a synthetic
dichotomy «person vs. nature». Cosmocentric mythologemes are
transformed in theocentric vision and make the basis of religious
outlook systems on principles of the relevance to nature.

The thesis proves that differentiation and transformation of world
outlook of people from methasymbols goes according to certain laws in
all areas of mental life of the person .Polyfunctionality of such
representations is reflected in organization of an way of life, forming
an ideal picture of the world, delimitation of sacral phenomena,
securing of forming of aesthetic and ethical specimen. Traditionality is
determined as a form of social and mental inheritance displays itself in
communicative activity of the person, established paragons of behaviour
and guidance of which are regulating rigidly the behaviour of the
person, providing security and harmonizing function. The violation of
the requirements of traditionality may cause mental shocks,
obnubulation, nervous breakdown and other psychosomatic derangements. In
continuous traditional social systems of sets of customs constitute the
bases of the doctrines forming ideologies at a level of state
religions . Thus, traditionality produces effects on formation ethnic
and socializing influences .

The thesis also deals with the peculiarity of application of separate
rules about the essence of traditionality in modern culture-forming
practices, possibility of their use in teaching and upbringing activity.
