Spectroscopy of thin films of complex compounds on the basis of copper and alkali halides. - Manuscript. Thesis for a candidate’s degree in physics and mathematics by speciality 01.04.05 - optics, laser physics, Kharkov National V.N.Karazin University, Kharkov, 1999. The thesis is devoted to investigation of electronic absorption spectra in thin films of complex compounds in system CuHal-MeHal (Me=Cs,Rb; Hal=I,Cl).The films of 9 compounds were synthesised and their optical spectra were studied. The connection of spectra with crystalline structure of compounds was established. If is shown that in studied compounds electronic excitations and excitons in 3-6 eV interval are localised in Cu-Hal-sublattice. The excitons in iodides of ternary compounds obey to Vannier-Mott’model, while in chlorides the features of Frencel excitons are displayed. The spectral position and member of excitonic bands in MeCu2Hal3 and Me3Cu2Hal5 evidence the Davydov splitting, connected with the existence in these compounds of twofold chains of CuHal4 tetrahedra. In optical spectra of superionic compounds CsyRb1-yCu4Cl3I2 (y=0;0,5;1) a number of bands was found related to excitons’localization in different CuHal(II) and CuHal(III) sublattices. The temperature change of the excitonic bands’parameters was studies at the phase transition from a lowtemperature dielectrical to superionic state. The additional widening of the excitonic bands in superionic phase is related to the higher generation of the Frenkel defects.
