The dissertation is focused on semantic, communicative and pragmatic
peculiarities of English utterances, conveying the negative evaluation
of the addressee. The communicative typology of the negative evaluative
utterances is provided on the basis of functional-pragmatic criteria,
the complex analysis of the utterances is carried out. The verbal and
non-verbal means that carry the negative evaluation of the addressee are
determined and analysed. The pragmatic potential of the examined
utterances is specified and the impact of the extralinguistic factors on
the communicative organization of negative utterances is also
identified.
