Chernyshenko I.A. Pedagogical activity and heritage of M.Zavadskiy. –
Manuscript.

The thesis for the scientific degree of the Candidate of Pedagogical
Sciences, speciality 13.00.01 – the theory and history of pedagogics.
Kirovograd State Pedagogical University named after Vilodymyr
Vinnichenko, Kirovograd, 1998.

The dissertation is devoted to the description of the material which has
not been researched before and which is devoted to the pedagogical
activity of M.Zavadskiy. The full biography of the pedagogue is given
and the philosophical and ethic foundations of his world outlook are
disclosed. In the dissertation the main points of view of M.Zavadskiy
to the general and particular problems of the theory of training and
education are analysed, the points of pedagogue’s concept about
development of secondary education are described. The role of
M.Zavadskiy as an enlightener, original thinker, popularizer of the
pedagogical ideas and reformer of the educational system is shown. There
is an analysis of his articles, textbooks, instructions which were
written by M.Zavadskiy. Full bibliography of his works is made up.

Our research made us to come to the conclusions that these materials can
be used in the teaching of the History of Ukrainian Pedagogics and in
the work with teachers and students.
