Hayowitsch V.V. Surgical treatment of the extension contractures of
metacarpophalangeal joints in patients with upper extremity trauma

The results of surgical treatment of 81 patients with extension
contractures of metacarpophalangeal joints of different origin, have
been analyzed in this study. The system of preventive maintenance,
treatment and postoperative rehabilitation have been created. It was
proved that the functional results of the treatment related to
individual aspects of the collagen metabolism. For the first time the
classification of extension contractures of metacarpophalangeal joints
which enables to determine tactics approches to extension contractures
treatment depend on stages have been developed.The new device for
surgical metacarpophalangeal joint mobilization have been created and
present method of this operation have been improved. The new system of
postoperative rehabilitation of patients have been offered. Data were
assessed by improved system the American association of hand surgery.
Dye to authors original methods of treatment the hand function have been
improved on 30 % in average.
