The decision factor of food productions is increasing the field with a
high-quality product, specially winter wheat, which is widely
cultivating all over the world.

Disease is harmful to the growth and reproduction of the winter wheat as
an organism. Factors affecting root-rot disease include the influence of
the soil environment on the pathogens.

In order to decrease the negative effects of chemical protection of
agricultural crops and other living things scientists from many
countries of the word are researching the means of integral plant
protection by using progressive methods of cultivating crops, among
which the first place is taking agriculturally acceptable resistance
varieties.

The main task of our research has been successfully initiated to
investigate the resistant varieties of winter wheat with a high quality
yield.

In the research Variety of Mironovskaya 61 was served a purpose of
Standard. As far as concerning different literature sources the climate
of Lesas-step Ukraine is favorable for growth and development of winter
wheat.

The dissertation is devoted to desing the following principles:

— To specify the difference of available pathogen of root-rot disease
from the soil and defeated organs of wheat plants;

— To increase inoculum levels of soil with the pathogen, by preceding
experiments (wheat), for studing resistant new varieties of Winter Wheat
to root-rot disease.

The fungus that causes the “take all” disease of winter wheat, during
the time of our research are the following: Fusarium oxysporum Sch., F.
culmorum Sacc., Bipolaris sorokiniana Shoem., Ophibolus graminis Sacc.,
Cercosporella herpotrichoides Fron., e t c.

Those pathogens fungi species are isolated often from defeated or dead
organs of plant tissue winter wheat plants. Our field Studies are
planted in Soils naturally infested with root-rot disease, by increasing
inoculum levels in field soil for three years preceding experiment
(wheat).

We collected soil from a field having a high level of root-rot and used
it in laboratory studies.

For disease test we planted the seed in to non-infested and infested

contamination with disease enable information to be obtained as to the
presence or absence of fungus. The incidence of disease among seedlings
arising from seeds inoculated with fungus (infected soil) is determined
by the extent to which is seeds are infected with fungus being made and
there fore the field performance of seeds sample can be forecast in
relation to the disease caused by this fungus.

Resistance to root-rot disease is similar to resistance to other plant
pathogens and appears to result from similar mechanisms. Among the
studied varieties of winter wheat comparing with a Standard, the
Varieties of Ukrainskaya 3 and Kievskaya 7 had a high germination % seed
in non-infected or infected soils with pathogen root-rot disease in the
laboratory as well as in the field.

The development of disease (root-rot) on the varieties of Ukrainskaya 3
and Kievskaya 7 through the vegetation periods (1994-1997) in different
stage of plants less than other Varieties, which are studied in our
research.

By the help of Biochemical analysis of non-defeated or defeated plants
of varieties Mironovskaya 61, Ukrainskaya 3 and Kievskaya 7 we concluded
that, the contents of protein, nitrogen and sugar are decrease in
defeated plants.

Evaluated the productivity varieties of winter wheat among the studied
destructive and perspective winter wheat immune against root-rot disease
did not identify. But compared with the Standard Mironovskaya 61
varieties of Ukrainskaya 3 and Kievskaya 7 are relatively resistance.

Realized research chemical using as means of protection Vitavacs 200,
(3 kg/T).

The results of our research work every year send to the State Commission
of Ukraine for testing and protection of plant varieties.
