Zymovets V.V. Interest Rate and Inflation: the case of Ukrainian Economy
in Transition – Manuscript.

Thesis for candidate’s degree by speciality 10.00.04. The Finance, Money
Circulation and Credit – The Economics Institute , National Academy of
Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv, 1998.

The thesis deals with the problem of interaction between interest rate
and inflation in the Ukrainian economy in transition. The existing
theoretical approaches have been used while tested with resent
statistical data on country groups. The interest rate has been regarded
as an indicator of monetary system’s level of development. The intesity
and the form of correlation of real interst rate with the monetary
aggregates dynamics, the exchange rates and the real GDP has been
determined. The methods of determination of the discount policy
influence on interest rates of microlevel, the proper volatility of the
discount rate under the money resources deficit conditions are
proposed. The correlation of the all-level types of interest rate with
the financial stability duration is stated.
