Fenko N.M. The aesthetic function of the dream in the works of Ukrainian
writers of the 2d half of 19th- the beginning of the 20th century. –

The dissertation is presented to acquire the degree of Candidate of
Philology, spesiality 10.01.01 – Ukrainian literature. – Dniepropetrovsk
State University, Dniepropetrovsk,1999.

The object of investigation is functional possibilities of the dream in
the literary system of the text on the basis of a bulky literary
material of the 2d half of 19th – the beginning of the 20th century and
creative works of Val.Shevchuk.

Studying the dreams gives one an opportunity to prove that through the
phenomenon of dream the writer perceives and shows us the depth of the
inner crust of his hero.

The dreams are classified according to the character of the influence
on the psychology of the main characters, formal features, the type of
the author’s thinking.

A considerable aesthetic potential of the dreams appears on the level of
the conceptual basis of the writer’s work. Through the understanding of
dreams as a concept of reality is connected with the cultural aspect of
this thesis.

The aesthetic function of the dream is regarded on the psychologycal,
conseptual and compositional levels, taking into account their
interaction with the whole structure of the literary text.
